Adella Jane Horner

Adella Jane Horner, age 90, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas. Adella, daughter of Willie and Mabel (Webb) Gowen, was born on July 17, 1933, in Seligman. When she was born, the doctor proclaimed she was the prettiest baby he had ever seen. She was a lifetime resident of Barry County, and attended school in Washburn where she was the Salutatorian of the 1951 graduating class. Following graduation, Adella went to work in Cassville for Royle Ellis as a legal secretary.

Trees, limbs litter highways after 70-mph gusts

A bow echo storm created damaging wind gusts in Barry County on Friday, uprooting trees and causing road blockages and home damage, especially in the Purdy and Butterfield areas. David Compton, Barry County Emergency Management director, said most of the damage was to large, mature trees, pushed over from the root ball and covering areas of Highways 97, 148, 76 and 39.
Troutman Media LLC buys Cassville Democrat building

Troutman Media LLC, which purchased the Cassville Democrat newspaper in January, hopes to revitalize its office after purchasing the building on June 7. Kyle Troutman and Jordan Troutman, managers of Troutman Media LLC, purchased the property from Barry County Properties LLC for an undisclosed amount.

Republic Services moves Cassville from Springfield unit to Bella Vista The city of Cassville has been dealing with ongoing trash pick-up delays, and Republic Services has presented the city council with a plan of action to solve the issue. Don Collins, area senior manager for Republic Services, addressed the council on Thursday, recognizing the shortfalls and promising a resolution.
