Roe snaps 6-year state qualification drought
Southwest freshman Sidney Roe has advanced to the MSHSAA Class 2 State Championship in both the mile and 2-mile Saturday, qualifying at the Class 2, Sectional 3 at Mountain Grove High School. Roe was 4th in the mile in 5:54 and 3rd in the 2-mile at 13:01.

Purdy FBLA qualifies 15 students for State Leadership Conference
On Feb. 4, the Purdy chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) traveled to the annual FBLA District 5 Leadership Conference. Out of 35 student competitors, Purdy had a record 33 students place in the top 10 in 50 different events. Fifteen students earned a chance to compete at the FBLA State Leadership Conference which will be held in Springfield from April 13-15.

In a competitive field on a difficult course, two Cassville seniors showed double-digit improvement from Day 1 to Day 2 at the Class 2 Girls Golf State tournament last week. Adelee Hendricks and Madison Robertshaw took 11th and 13th at the Class 2, District 3 tournament at Whispering Oaks Golf Course in Marshfield, qualifying the pair to play in Class 2 Girls Golf State Oct.

Barry County Bows double up at state
The Barry County Bows, a 4-H bow-shooting club, had seven youths compete at state on Sept. 22 at Prairie Grove Shotgun Sports in Columbia. Participants included: Savannah Doucet, Eli Madsen, Connor Madsen, Alec Smith, Zoei Stockton, Lydia Stockton and Garrett England.
