Facade renovations on two downtown Cassville buildings are nearing completion. Facelifts to Stumpff’s Barbershop and Sater Pharmacy, including new signage, were funded through the Community Foundation of the Ozarks’ Cassville Downtown Restoration Fund.

Liberty Utilities submits large-load plan
The Empire District Electric Company, doing business as Liberty Utilities and headquartered in Joplin, is requesting approval from the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) for a large load customer rate plan and associated tariffs, the PSC announced in a Sept. 17 press release.
Purdy reviews facility needs
The Purdy City Council concentrated on infrastructure issues during its Sept. 9 meeting. Following up on the April 28 hailstorm, Public Works Foreman Kevin Cook reported assessing roofs on all the city buildings. The new one on city hall had not been finished at the time. The city received around $120,000 from insurance for the damage, city Clerk Sasha Gomez said.
Cassville Democrat reels in 21 statewide awards
On Saturday at the Broadway Hotel in Columbia, the Cassville Democrat newspaper won 21 total statewide awards — including five first-place plaques — for calendar year 2025 work entered in the Missouri Press Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest.
