50 YEARS AGO: DAYLIGHT SUNDAY VIEW OF BURNED SCHOOL — This is the view that attracted hundreds of visitors throughout Sunday. The gutted 51-year-old high school building on the Washburn campus of Southwest schools. Beside the right hand wall are four autos belonging to students on a field trip to St. Louis which were completely destroyed.

Law office team wins Trivia Night
The Malcontents, a team representing Ellis, Cupps and Herrin, were crowned Trivia Night champions on March 7, by winning the overall competition.

Man charged for attempting to steal rings from woman’s hands
An arrest warrant has been issued for a Washburn man who allegedly attempted to take rings off the fingers of a victim at Cassville establishment.

The Exeter chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace will host a bed build on April 12, starting at 9 a.m., at Emmanuel Baptist Church, located at 821 Old Exeter Road in Cassville.

2 arrested in Christian County after police chase
Two Barry County residents were arrested in Christian County after allegedly fleeing from Nixa police and ramming a police cruiser to the point of being disabled.

Lady ‘Cats downed in district championship
A 3-point margin at the start of the fourth quarter looked promising for Cassville, but Aurora ultimately hit their stride late and defeated the Lady Wildcats, 40-21, in the Class 4, District 12 girls basketball championship Friday in Monett.
