Southwest Sets Tipoff for Nov. 22

Southwest High School will celebrate Tipoff to the basketball season on Tuesday, Nov. 22 against Pierce City. The candidates are: senior Feanne Damen, junior Julika Petermann, sophomore Ashlin Batts, cheer candidate junior Kayla Hendrix and freshman Lilian Sanders. LaDonna Denise Tallant, age 67, of Seligman, Missouri passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Cox Monett Hospital in Monett, Missouri. Services will be held at a later date.

Connie Sue Bobo, age 70, of Purdy, Missouri passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022 at her home. No services are scheduled at this time.

Helen Marie O’Dell

Helen Marie O’Dell, age 65, of Golden, Missouri passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 at her home. Services were held at 2 P.M. Friday, November 11, 2022 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Shaun Crawford conducted the services. Contributions may be made to Golden Baptist Church in memory of Helen.

Joe R. Carlisle, age 78, of Cassville, went to be with beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 4, 2022.

Wheaton finishes second in district

The Wheaton volleyball team nearly met its goal of a district title, falling to Galena in the championships, but the Lady Bulldogs still achieved a winning record and immense growth with a revamped offense. Robert Creekmore, Wheaton volleyball coach, said overall, it was a successful year.

Tigers rely on big 3

The Exeter boys basketball team is looking to three athletes to lead the Tigers this season — its glue, it’s guard and its big. Tremayne Williams, Exeter boys basketball coach, enters the season at 12-34 and in his third year, saying success has been hard to come by, but Exeter is no longer a team opponents can overlook.

Alvin Leon “Al” Stanley, age 76, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Oak Pointe of Neosho in Neosho, Missouri. Graveside services with military honors were held Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Nolan Cemetery in Galena, Missouri, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home Cassville.
