Vigil celebrates Buchman at Roaring River State Park
Jim and Carmen Rogers, owners of Roaring River Concessions, toss flowers into Roaring River in honor of long-time state parks employee Elise Buchman. About 25 people attended a vigil for Buchman, park office administrative assistant, on Sunday, sharing memories, lighting candles and tossing flowers into the river in her honor.
Shell Knob man drowns in Table Rock
A Shell Knob man died in Table Rock Lake on Monday, presumed to have fallen in the water from his fishing boat at about 6 a.m. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Harry Chamberlain, 62, of Shell Knob, was fishing in a 2022 Sun Dolphin 12-foot utility boat and presumed to have fallen over the side of his boat. After troopers searched the area, Chamberlain was located at 10:55 a.m. on Tuesday.

I got in on the slip-n-slide action last week at the Cassville Intermediate School playground. The Cassville Volunteer Fire Protection District hooked up to the hydrant and turned the playground into a sprayground.

Anyone who has ever found themselves in the Roaring River State Park administrative office has very likely met Elise Buchman and very likely remembered the encounter. In her trademark hat, scarf and boots, Buchman has been a staple of the office for more than a decade as the administrative assistant to the park superintendent or natural resources manager.
James siblings head to nationals

Faith James, incoming Cassville senior and prolific wrestling talent, helped Missouri USA Wrestling hoist its first ever national title, for boys or girls, at the 2023 Junior National Duals in Tulsa June 13-17.
