Over 2,100 anglers brave cold to fish Opening Day (03/04/09)
On Sunday, 2,147 fishermen braved the severe cold to crowd snow-covered stream banks at Roaring River State Park and participate in the 2009 trout season opener. Trout tags were sold to 1,768 adults and 379 kids. Anglers began to line the Roaring River stream before 5 a.m. on March 1. Park staff members placed makeshift barrel campfires along the banks to help anglers combat the frigid temperatures, which hovered around 14 degrees...
