Sidewalk grant is approved (12/04/08)
The City of Cassville has been awarded a $109,976 grant that will allow the municipality to construct a new sidewalk along Highway Y connecting two Cassville R-IV School campuses. The funding was awarded through the Safe Routes to Schools grant program, which is administered by the Missouri Department of Transportation's Highway Safety Division...

Blue skies and sunshine provided the perfect backdrop for a special highway naming ceremony that was held last Tuesday afternoon south of Cassville. A large crowd attended the event, which was held in honor of slain Barry County Sheriff's Deputy Christopher Lee Castetter, whose name now graces a portion of Highway 112. Castetter was shot and killed in the line of duty on Nov. 27, 1996, while responding to a suspicious vehicle call. Last Friday marked the 12th anniversary of his murder...

To the entire Barry County community: I would like to thank everyone that helped make the dedication of the Christopher Lee Castetter Memorial Highway a reality last week. It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony on what turned out to be a sunny, warm day. Perhaps it was Chris' smile that was bringing down all of that sunshine on those of us that gathered at the site.
