Elected road commissioners sworn in
Newly elected road commissioners were sworn in recently. The group enjoyed a meal catered by John Sullivan and sponsored by ESS (Emery Sapp and Sons), Springdale Tractor, ADS (Advanced Drainage Systems) and Viebrock. At the meeting with all road district commissioners, the Barry County commissioners discussed sunshine law, the bid process and the merger of the Shell Knob and Viola Road Districts.
4 vie for sheriff
The incumbent sheriff and three challengers have filed in Barry County, each hoping to be elected in the Aug. 6 Republican Primary and four year’s at the county’s lead law enforcement officer.

After 20 years of the same person holding the position of sheriff, Barry County in August will have its third contested election for the post, to be settled in the Aug. 6 Republican Primary Election.
LeCompte unseats incumbent Phillips for Cassville City Council
Change was made to the Cassville City Council this week, as challenger Zane LeCompte unseated incumbent Mike Phillips in the North Ward Alderman seat.

Barry County Clerk Joyce Ennis will conduct an election certification with the verification team for the April 2 General Municipal Election. It will be held at 1 p.m.
City requests renewal of capital improvement sales tax
The city of Cassville is proposing a renewal of its capital improvement sales tax on the April 2 Municipal Election ballot, aiming to use the funds for a multitude of projects in the future. The 1/2-cent tax was first passed in 2005, and all revenue had been used to pay the loan for the city’s wastewater treatment plant, funded by a 2002 bond for $2,935,000 that was paid in full in July 2023.
