Weldy wins state title
Brynn Weldy, wrestler in the Wildcat Takedown Club, wrapped up her season by placing first in the state in the 10U 80-pound girls division. She pinned all four of her opponents with a total mat time of just under 6 minutes, and not a single point was scored on her during the entire tournament.
Cassville Speech and Debate owns Big 8
The Cassville High School Speech and Debate team placed first in the Big 8 Conference Tournament the weekend of Jan. 30 at Nevada.

Roark spladles way to ‘ship
Shortly into the second period of his 165-pound Class 2 championship match, Cassville junior Colten Roark hooked the leg of Hallsville’s Colt West and scored a reverse, and as his opponent attempted to stand up, Roark launched into a move he knows all too well.

The seventh- and eighth-grade Cassville Middle School boys basketball teams each won first place in the Big 8 Conference.
Trojans reflect on successful season
In the summer of 2023, the Southwest boys basketball team declined to set any expectations. Coming off its first district title in 57 years, the Trojans had lost half the team to graduation and had yet to find an identity.
