The Cassville Democrat has hired a new sales executive who brings a wealth or journalism experience to the award-winning publication. Joining the sales team at the Cassville Democrat is Jessica Breger, a native of Austin, Texas.

Cassville girls making strides

The Cassville girls basketball team was a shade away from a .500 record this season, but how much the team has improved year-to-year is in the scorebook. Cassville Girls Basketball Coach Clayton Bagby said the Lady Wildcats (12-15, 3-3) endured a transition year and made themselves better during it.

The Barry County Sheriff's Office responded to 205 calls for service for the week of Feb. 19-25 The CAD events created by central dispatch are the Calls for Service Barry County Officers respond to every day, included in those calls are alarms, assaults, burglaries, domestic disturbances, DWI's, stealing, harassment, medical issues, paper service, prisoner transports, suspicious persons, traffic stops and warrant service. On Feb. 6, the Purdy chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) traveled to the annual FBLA District 5 Leadership Conference. Out of 34 student competitors, Purdy had a record 31 students place in the top 10 in 45 different events.
