CHS jazz band earns top honors in competitive season
The Cassville High School Jazz Band is off to a strong start in its 2026 competitive season, earning top ratings and individual honors at multiple collegiate festivals across the region.

Cassville super brings suit against MSHSAA
The U.S. Attorney General’s office has moved to intervene in a federal lawsuit — brought by Cassville Superintendent Merlyn Johnson and Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway — challenging eligibility rules used by the Missouri State High School Activities Association Board of Directors, arguing the policies violate constitutional protections by classifying candidates based on race and sex.

30 YEARS AGO — HERE'S PIE IN YOUR EYE — Cassville fifth graders celebrated the end of a grueling Missouri Master Achievement Test week on Friday, April 19 by throwing pies. Happy youngsters looked on and cheered as several lucky students got to throw pies at their teachers. In the photo above, fifth grader Alyssa Gummert is shown giving Elementary Principal, Martha Dunnam, a pie in the face.
