A grand exit
Cassville teachers lined up at the bus exit on Thursday, the last day of school, to wave goodbye to the students for the summer. Kyle Troutman/editor@cassville-democrat.com It was mostly joy and smiles as children waved to their teachers, riding the bus home for the last time in the 2021-2022 school year.
Summer at the Y
While the Cassville YMCA is open 24/7 all year long, the summer time is packed full of events and adventures for all ages. The regular classes at the Cassville YMCA will continue as scheduled.
Summer starts when Center opens
Children in the Cassville area have turned to the Cassville Aquatic Center for more than two decades to spend their days splashing in the water and playing in the sun. This year, starting on Saturday, the Cassville YMCA will be open Monday through Sunday from 1-6 p.m., weather permitting.

Wildcats’ Michael Morgan to Grin in Glendale
The Cassville football team has one representative at the 21st Sertoma GRIN IRON CLASSIC football game, set for June 3 at Glendale High School. The rosters for the all-star game were recently released, and lineman Michael Morgan was picked from the Wildcats to join in the fun.

Wildcats fall to Monett in districts
The Cassville baseball team fell 9-1 to Monett last week in the opening round of the Class 4, District 11 Tournament, but the season’s end did not dampen the hope from goals achieved. Ron Hudson, Cassville baseball coach, said overall, the team improved in two major areas — mental toughness and defense.
Summertime sun, splashing, celebrations
For 22 years, the Cassville Aquatic Center has brought fun in the sun to the summertime with splashes and smiles. This year, during the 22nd anniversary summer of the opening of the pool, people are reflecting on how the park started.

Road district to meet The McDowell Special Road District will have its regular monthly business meeting on Monday at the McDowell Church beginning at 6 p.m. If anyone wants to get on the agenda to question the road commissioners, they may call 417-847-2808.
Rock ’n Roll, it’s summer school
After the goodbyes on the last day of school, and a brief break from pencils and crayons, some students head back to the classroom for a few weeks of summer school. Cassville Cassville’s last day of school is Thursday, with a release at 1 p.m.
Wheaton launches $2.7 million tornado shelter
In 2016, the Wheaton taxpayers approved a $1 million bond issue for a FEMA shelter to be built on district property. Originally, the district aimed to build a practice facility or gymnasium that would replace the current gymnasium that would double as a tornado shelter for area students and residents.

Exeter falls to Miller in district championship
In 2023, the Exeter softball team will be hoping the third time is the charm. In the Class 1, District 5 championship on May 10, the Lady Tigers were defeated by Miller, 18-13, in a game that saw one Exeter player hit two home runs.
