Wildcats’ Michael Morgan to Grin in Glendale

The Cassville football team has one representative at the 21st Sertoma GRIN IRON CLASSIC football game, set for June 3 at Glendale High School.

The rosters for the all-star game were recently released, and lineman Michael Morgan was picked from the Wildcats to join in the fun.

Also invited were three Monett athletes — Ethan Umfleet, Corbin McCully and Harrison Merriman — and Pierce City Coach Brad Hocker was selected to coach the linebackers of the West team.

The CLASSIC, which was scheduled at Springfield Parkview High School, was moved due to construction for the Grant Avenue Parkway project near Parkview’s JFK Stadium. The game will take place at 7:30 p.m. on June 3.

Tickets are $10 each and available at the gate, and children 6-and-under are admitted free. Tickets may also be bought at Springfield’s two Ronald McDonald Houses, located at 949 E. Primrose St. and Mercy Kids 6th Floor.

The Sertoma GRIN IRON CLASSIC benefits the “Tooth Truck” (Springfield’s Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®), a mobile dental clinic for at risk children who qualify for free and reduced school lunches. That’s why the event uses the word GRIN in its name, with a focus on helping children who have no access to dental care.

Since its inception in 2002, the Tooth Truck has helped nearly 29,700 children via 63,200 dental appointments. This dental treatment is valued at over $20.6 million. Every dollar contributed to the Tooth Truck provides more than $4 in dental treatment for children in need.

More than 90 local high school athletes from Southwest Missouri will be featured in this East vs. West all-star football game. Athletes competing in the game are all graduated high school seniors — the best of the best.

Football teams will practice May 30 to June 2 from 6-8 p.m. The East team will practice at Parkview High School, and the West team at Sarcoxie High School. Those who plan to attend the East team’s practices should park at the Springfield Skate Park or Fassnight Park. The main JFK parking lot will be closed due to construction.
