Summer starts when Center opens

Children in the Cassville area have turned to the Cassville Aquatic Center for more than two decades to spend their days splashing in the water and playing in the sun.

This year, starting on Saturday, the Cassville YMCA will be open Monday through Sunday from 1-6 p.m., weather permitting.

“It costs $47 for a day pass per person, but is free to anyone with an Ozarks YMCA membership,” said Jessica Smith, Cassville YMCA office manager. “We typically staff 25-28 lifeguards per season with 11 staff members per day.”

The Cassville Aquatic Center hosts a number of events from free swim days to dog swim days, but they also host private parties.

“People can rent the pool for private pool parties on weekdays starting at 7 p.m., after normal business hours,” Smith said. “Or on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sunday after 6 p.m.

“It costs $150 for one hour and $250 for two hours.”

People can also rent the Cassville Aquatic Center for an open hours pool party.

“This is a two-hour time frame for $150,” Smith said. “We provide private seating, a snow cone for each guest and charcoal grill access, all for 30 guests.”

Smith said everyone is ready for the opening.

“We are super excited for the pool to open,” she said. “It is a great healthy way to get out of the house over the summer and have fun with your friends and family.”

Events through the summer at the Aquatic Center include:

• June 4: Free swim, splash day

• June 6: Swimming around water: “Summer school kids who recently completed first grade will get to attend swimming safety classes,” Smith said.

• June 6 -16: Swim lessons: “You can sign up

• Aug. 15: Dog swim. at the Cassville YCMA,” Smith said.

• July 4: Free swim day

• July 11-21: Swim lessons.

• Aug. 15: Dog swim. “Bring your dog and enjoy playing in the pool with them,” Smith said. “I feel like since we are so close to the area lakes, and kids are around so much water because of where we live, that the option for so many safety around water classes is amazing.”

People may contact the Cassville YMCA or register online for events and activities.
