The Purdy softball team saw its season end on May 21 in the sectional round of the Class 1 State Tournament. The Lady Eagles fell to Lockwood at home, 8-0. Purdy finishes the season as Class 1, District 5 champions with a record of 20-8.

Cassville senior Makaiden Bolles hopes to emulate her new team mascot in the fall, as she has signed to run track for State Fair Community College in Sedalia in the fall.

The Cassville middle school boys and girls track teams competed in the Monett Middle School Invitational on April 17, bringing home multiple medals, including seven first places for the 7th and 8th grade Wildcats.

Talented Southwest track squads put focus on training
The Southwest High School boys and girls track teams have a calvary of new faces on the pavement this season, with seven returners looking to lead 17 newcomers this season.

The Cassville baseball team (3-3-1) picked up a pair of wins in three tries last week. The Wildcats defeated Purdy, 4-0, at home, then fell to Logan-Rogersville, 6-2, on the road, before ending the week with a 9-4 away win over Marionville.

Cassville alumnus going to DII Nationals
The NCAA Division II Track & Field National Championship selections were announced on March 4. William Jewell College will send two athletes, one of whom is Cassville alumnus Bradan Dickinson, to the Winter Sports Festival in Indianapolis, Ind.

Williams breaks school record set in 2000
Three Cassville thinclads will compete in four events at the MSHSAA Class 3 State Championships this weekend, and one Lady Wildcats added some emphasis to her qualification by breaking a school record set at the beginning of the millenum.

2 Trojans trekking to state
Two Southwest High School runners have advanced to the Class 2 State Track and Field Championships, scheduled for Friday and Saturday. At the Class 2, Sectional 3 meet in Blue Eye on Saturday, senior Robert Humphries finished fourth in the mile and 2-mile at Sectional 3 at Blue Eye High School.
