Purdy FBLA Qualifies 18 for State Leadership Conference
On Feb. 6, the Purdy chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) traveled to the annual FBLA District 5 Leadership Conference. Out of 34 student competitors, Purdy had a record 31 students place in the top 10 in 45 different events.

100+ words spelled in Purdy
The Purdy Spelling Bee was held on Jan. 26. Nine contestants from grades 4-6 competed. The winner was Paul Bawithawng, a fourth-grader. The runner up was Solomon Thang, also a fourth-grader. The winner spelled “multitude’ and then “journey” to win the competition. It was a very competitive match with over 100 words used during the entirety of the Spelling Bee.

Hopping along to JeffCo: Hoppes signs letter of intent
A three-time All-State softball player seeking a school record fourth award this season, Purdy senior Jessi Hoppes will be a hop, skip and a jump away from home in the fall, signing a letter of intent on Jan. 29 to continue her career at Jefferson College.

Purdy Homecoming court named
Purdy High School will crown its 2024 Homecoming Queen and Mr. Tip-Off at a special coronation between JV and varsity boys’ basketball games on Friday. Purdy man graduates US Marine Corps Boot Camp
Private Travis Zan Hughes, 18, of Purdy graduated from United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego on Dec. 8, 2023. Private Hughes successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD San Diego as one of many recruits in Charlie Company Platoon 1043. Purdy focus on Annual Performance Report fruitful
When the Purdy school district received its first Annual Performance Review (APR) based on the Missouri School Improvement Plan 6 (MSIP6) in 2022, one thing was clear — there was work to be done. Travis Graham, Purdy superintendent, said the district was disappointed in its score of 70.3 percent, and improvements mainly needed to be made in English language arts, math and science.
