100+ Women expands reach
The Monett Museum witnessed a gathering of community-minded women on May 2, as the second quarter meeting of the local 100+ Women organization took place. The event featured presentations from Katie Dillman, of Make Our Day, and Amy Sampson, representing the Monett Historical Society.

Lawrence and Barry County Democrats will meet on May 23 at the Angus Branch Steakhouse, located at 114 Chapel Drive in Monett. The meeting will start at 7 p.m.

ROV diver faces challenges
The depth of Roaring River Spring Cave remains a mystery. Goodspeed Publishing’s “1888 History of Barry County” records the depth to be “fathomless,” but better-equipped explorers later attached more concrete figures to that fathom.

Revitalizing history
Down winding dirt roads between Jenkins and Cato, near the 150-year-old McKinney Cemetery and a stone’s toss from Rockhouse Creek, a piece of Barry County history is getting new life. At one point, Barry County had at least 115 rural one- or two-room school houses, one of which was the Hailey School House in Mineral Spring.

Kyle Troutman: Spotting storms in Barry County
The Cassville area received its first true taste of tornado season in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Just after midnight, storms that had been spinning off tornadoes in Oklahoma approached Missouri, leading to a tornado warning in McDonald County, and ultimately, the same for Barry.
DNR to host public hearing in Barry Co re land-application of waste
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will host an in-person, public hearing in Barry County regarding proposed permits by the department for the land-application of industrial meat, poultry and other food-processing waste and human biosolids in Barry and McDonald Counties.
Driver ejected in Hwy. 112 crash
A Cassville man was seriously injured following a single-vehicle wreck on Friday at 8 p.m. on Highway 112, six miles south of Cassville.
Bicyclist injured in collision with truck
A Stella man was injured on Friday in a wreck at 9:15 p.m. on Highway 76, half a mile east of Exeter.

40 YEARS AGO: The landmark Union Church at Seligman will celebrate its 100th birthday May 27 with an open house and a special centennial program.
