A familiar face is returning to the Cassville area, hired as the new city administrator. Mayor Bill Shiveley and the Cassville Board of Aldermen have selected Richard Asbill as the next city administrator, replacing Steve Walensky, who has retired.

Zanetta Campbell, co-owner of The Rib in Cassville, is presented a Business Beautification Award from Cassville Chamber Board President Jennifer McBroom. Campbell received the award for reviving the restaurant on Highway 112, which had been vacant for over a decade.

County’s bailiffs honored for service

Employees of multiple offices at the Barry County Judicial Center gathered Friday to recognize the men who serve as the face of the building and the protection in the courtroom. The Center’s three bailiffs — Dave Ruark, Michael Morris and Mike Bailey — were treated to a surprise luncheon honoring their service at the facility.

Deadline extended for public comments

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has extended the deadline for public comments from March 18 to April 21 for proposed permits for the land-application of industrial sludge in Barry County, and parts of McDonald County, by waste-hauling companies Synagro Central, LLC, and HydroAg Environmental, LLC.
