Janet Mills: The most honorable man I ever knew
Is the road to acquiring genuine compassion only found by traversing painful experiences? Is it in times of trials and suffering when our deepest bonds of connection to others are formed? Maybe a transformation takes place when we personally connect with our own pain and then we can truly begin to understand the pain and suffering of others. The hurdles and obstacles we face can easily embitter our outlook and cause us to become self-centered and even angry.

Cassville High School golf teams hit a hole-in-one for hunger relief
The Cassville High School girls and boys golf teams hosted their annual fundraiser tournament on April 20, with resounding success, raising the highest amount ever, a record-breaking $625. The funds, collected through spirited participation by both golf teams and community generosity, were donated to Cassville Pantry to help combat local food insecurity.

Achieving and reloading
The Exeter softball team just got better and better this season. Finishing at 15-8, the Lady Tigers fell to Purdy in the district semifinals, and though they did not reach the title bout, they did accomplish a goal never reach before — Ozark 7 champions.

Cassville Education Fund grants awarded
Four grants totaling $6,073 from the Cassville Education Fund were awarded to teachers on May 10 at the Cassville school campus. Summer School Director Kendale Ellis received $2,818 for admission and tour fees for a summer school field trip to Dogwood Canyon.
Barry County Sheriff’s Office calls for service and reports taken, May 27-June 2
The Barry County Sheriff's Office responded to 232 calls for service for the week of May 27 to June 2. The CAD events created by central dispatch are the Calls for Service Barry County Officers respond to every day, included in those calls are alarms, assaults, burglaries, domestic disturbances, DWI's, stealing, harassment, medical issues, paper service, prisoner transports, suspicious persons, traffic stops and warrant service.
