40 YEARS AGO: It’s official, the Cassville Chamber of Commerce’s doors are open at Sixth and Main in the PACE building. Signing the location was completed Monday by Gary and Kenneth Corn. As the sign says, the C Of C location is also a visitor center in the new location to provide a source of local information for tourists and locals alike. The center will also be the meeting location for a rumber of civic groups that are offsprings of the C of C. Secretary Sonia Chasteen said open house activities at the new offices will be observed in the near future when moving, relocation of materials and furnishings are complete.

Mary Alice Moreland, 74, of Cassville, Mo., passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Cassville Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Cassville. She was born March 29, 1949, in Washburn, Mo., the daughter of Virgil and Jewel (Laney) Robbins were her parents.

Sales tax revenues continue to rise in May

Sales tax revenues to Barry County cities and the county government entities rallied for the eighth consecutive month, showing the boost in local shopping inspired by the pandemic shutdown that started in receipts from May of 2020 still has resilience. Since then, total sales tax revenues for Barry County municipal recipients has dropped only four times in 37 months, compared to the previous year.
