Cassville annexes future Barry County jail property
The Cassville City Council has voted to annex the property where the new county jail will be built, but not first without hearing concerns from nearby homeowners. The council voted unanimously to annex the 25.42-acre tract of land behind Baywash Carwash on Old Exeter Road, citing the ability to provide water and sewer service to the incoming jail and health department buildings, as well as expanding services to other areas, as a reason for the move.

Divers to collect organisms from Roaring River Spring
With their permit from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) renewed through the end of December, the KISS Rebreathers dive team will continue their scheduled, monthly weekend explorations of Roaring River Cave, “at least through November,” head diver and KISS CEO Mike Young said.

A Shell Knob woman was injured on Saturday in a wreck at 9:50 p.m. on Highway 39 in Shell Knob.
Monett man injured in bike wreck
A Monett man was injured on Sunday in a wreck at 8:25 p.m. on Farm Road 2125, three miles east of Butterfield.

Garcia, Hughes named to Class 2 Second Team
The Purdy baseball team next spring will have something only one other Class 2 team in the state will have — two returning All-State players. Junior infielder Ezequiel Garcia and junior outfielder Travis Hughes were named to the Class 2 Second Team.

Robert A. Ziehr, 66, of Golden, passed away Wednesday, June 15. 2022. He had lived many years in Random Lake, Wis. He was born June 23, 1955, in Port Washington, Wis., to Claytus and Lorraine (Laubenstein) Ziehr who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were a sister, Marcia Ziehr Brody and brother-in-law, Randy Peiffer.

Sylvia Lugenia Stigall, 79, of Exeter, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She was born March She was born March 27, 1943, in Chattanooga, Tenn., the daughter of Robert and Ada (Dallis) Stigall, who preceded her in death.

Charles Edward Saunders, 92, of Cassville, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Mercy Hospital Cassville in Cassville. He was born in Stella, on March 3, 1930, the son of Clarence and Cora (Preddy) Saunders.

Ralph Lynn Hall, Jr., 69, of Exeter, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022, at his home. He was born May 7, 1953, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Ralph Lynn, Sr.
