An EF-1 tornado struck the city of Wheaton on Friday morning, damaging a church, outbuildings, trees and power lines.

Ramaeker, Holenda awarded Shelter scholarships
The Shelter Insurance Foundation recently awarded a pair of $1,500 scholarships to Elly Ramaeker, a graduate of Cassville High School, and Sarah Holenda, a graduate of Wheaton High School.

The Purdy softball team saw its season end on May 21 in the sectional round of the Class 1 State Tournament. The Lady Eagles fell to Lockwood at home, 8-0. Purdy finishes the season as Class 1, District 5 champions with a record of 20-8.

Shelter Insurance seeking scholarship applicants
$1,500 scholarships going to Cassville, Wheaton students Cassville and Wheaton seniors have the opportunity to apply for the Shelter Insurance Foundation Scholarship through March 31, with one graduate from each school to receive $1,500. 'Recognizing academic achievement in its communities is one of the main goals of the Shelter Insurance Foundation,' a Shelter press release said.
