Exeter title chase continues
The Exeter softball team was please with a winning season this spring, but the Lady Tigers are still on the hunt for postseason hardware.

The Purdy softball team saw its season end on May 21 in the sectional round of the Class 1 State Tournament. The Lady Eagles fell to Lockwood at home, 8-0. Purdy finishes the season as Class 1, District 5 champions with a record of 20-8.

Cassville senior Lauren Sparkman is continuing the family trend of signing for a collegiate athletic scholarship, as she penned her name recently to a letter of intent to play softball at Evangel University in Springfield.

The Cassville baseball team (3-3-1) picked up a pair of wins in three tries last week. The Wildcats defeated Purdy, 4-0, at home, then fell to Logan-Rogersville, 6-2, on the road, before ending the week with a 9-4 away win over Marionville.

Reflecting on a record
For the second season in a row, the Cassville softball team made history. In 2023, the 16-15 Lady Wildcats won the program’s first-ever district title under former coach Lori Videmschek, and this year, Cassville set a program record for wins, going 19-14 and taking second place in Class 3, District 6.

Lady Eagles get double-digit wins
For the first time in eight seasons, the Purdy volleyball team achieved a double-digit win total. The Lady Eagles, who had only three seniors and a majority of freshmen this season, finished at 11-22-3, falling in the Class 2, District 10 quarterfinals to Sarcoxie, 3-0 (21-25, 15-25, 13-25).

Three times on Monday, the Cassville softball team was a single out away from hoisting a second consecutive title — and all three times, the opportunity slipped away.
