As part of the millennial generation that loves a little nostalgia, I can’t help but think about what my summers were like as a kid, how it differs from today and how I can ensure my kids have a summer worth remembering.

Williams breaks school record set in 2000
Three Cassville thinclads will compete in four events at the MSHSAA Class 3 State Championships this weekend, and one Lady Wildcats added some emphasis to her qualification by breaking a school record set at the beginning of the millenum.

Local martial artists tested, promoted
Students from the Modern Martial Arts Academy of Cassville recently participated in the annual Spring belt testing and promotion ceremony. Individuals were tested on different aspects of the martial arts and evaluated by Head Instructor Ernest Freeman.

Tucker retires from Cassville schools
“She worketh diligently with her hands” Proverbs 31:13. The family of Tammy Tucker congratulate her for her retirement after nearly 25 years of employment with the Cassville R-IV School District. Tammy began her career in food service as a substitute in 1999, and worked in the High School cafeteria for several years before becoming the head cook at the Intermediate School. Throughout her service, Tammy has inspired hundreds of children and nurtured many more through her dedication to excellent food service. After serving approximately 2 million meals, Tammy looks forward to life with her already retired husband, Carroll, their children, and two grandchildren. Mom, we’re so proud of you and we love you! Love, Carroll; Carolyn, Chris, Aubrey, and Paisley; Dustin and Ashley; and Marissa and Clover.

City of Cassville receives $20,000 grant from CFO
The City of Cassville received a $20,000 grant from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, in partnership with the Louis L. and Julia Dorothy Coover Charitable Foundation and Commerce Trust, on April 30.

CS Bank hosts grand opening
Victor Criddle, of Exeter, makes a plate of food during the CS Bank grand opening on Friday, celebrating the bank’s new location and building in Cassville.

100+ attend youth camp
The Cassville football program held its annual youth camp for grades 2-5 on May 6-8, with more than 100 children participating. The camp is run by high school and middle school football coaches, as well as the high school football players. Marck Recycling sponsored the camp shirts.
News Briefs, May 15
Lawrence and Barry County Democrats will meet on May 23 at the Angus Branch Steakhouse, located at 114 Chapel Drive in Monett. The meeting will start at 7 p.m.
