3 Lady ‘Cats take Big 8 gold
The Cassville girls wrestling team had 10 participants in the 6-team Big 8 Conference Championship in Monett on Jan. 22, three of whom returned home with gold medals.

Shelter Insurance seeking scholarship applicants
$1,500 scholarships going to Cassville, Wheaton students Cassville and Wheaton seniors have the opportunity to apply for the Shelter Insurance Foundation Scholarship through March 31, with one graduate from each school to receive $1,500. 'Recognizing academic achievement in its communities is one of the main goals of the Shelter Insurance Foundation,' a Shelter press release said.
Barry County sales tax dips in January
Sales tax revenues for Barry County cities and county government entities got off to a slow start for 2025, with lower receipts for almost all recipients. The seven Barry County cities and the county received $1,398,694.40, a drop of 8% from last January.

Hang named to All-State Band
Monty Hang, a senior at Cassville High School who plays clarinet and saxophone, has been named Honorable Mention All-State Band. He is believed to be the first recipient of the recognition from Cassville in about 15 years.

‘Cats wrestle up classes in Branson
Tktroutman@cassville-democrat.com he Cassville boys wrestling team is getting into the nitty-gritty of the season, coming off a sixthplace finish as the smallest school in the Branson Invitational and preparing for the Big 8 Conference meet this week and districts and state in February. Nathan Fortner, Cassville boys wrestling coach, said this season has been about progression, and the Wildcats have had no shortage of such.
