Breast Cancer Awareness Month

TroutMom Says — Jordan Troutman: Gratitude for stories shared, lives saved
I have lost count of exactly how many breast cancer stories I have written since 2018, but I have never forgotten the details of the stories people share during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Fighting again, winning again
In the summer of 2019, local woman Erma Mast noticed something that would soon change her life — a lump in her left breast.
Pink Ladies’ stories shared
Power of Pink has been helping women diagnosed with breast cancer for 15 years. Janice McCracken, founder of Power of Pink, has raised $464,843.40 for 58 women.

The power of love
Kristy Brownfield is a mother, a 46-year-old woman and a breast cancer survivor.

Southwest Volleyball to Host Pink Out, Senior Night
The Southwest High School volleyball team has three important dates to celebrate in October. On Oct. 9, Purdy will visit the Lady Trojans for Pink Out 2025. This is the 16th consecutive year the school has hosted a breast cancer awareness event. The team has theme days planned all week and fundraisers for two students, Payton Neukam and Haven Holmes. There will be a bake sale, coin collection, 50/50 raffle and serving contests to raise money.

Support, love, $12K
Power of Pink celebrated its 15th year of service to women diagnosed with breast cancer by raising $49,577.88 to help support the four nominated ladies of 2025.
