Cassville firefighters to climb in memory of 9/11
On Sept. 21, firefighters and civilians from all over will be joining in person and virtually for the Springfield Area Memorial Stair Climb.

There’s only a few places in this town a fish can relax, and I was enjoying the last days of the Aquatic Center being open when WHAM — this Piebald Great Dane named Sammy splashed me. Then, he stuck his tongue out at me, as evidenced in this photo. Before I knew it, all Sammy’s firends showed up and there was more splashing than toddlers at bathtime. Toys were flying eveywhere, all kinds of breeds were chasing one another and even the humans were “in the way” of the fun at times. By the end, I’ve never seen soo many doggos so happy and yet so tired. I say throw a bone to the YMCA for hosting a Doggie Swim Day every year!

An extraordinary thing happened at the Purdy City Council meeting in August. Bob Moser, a retired Monett police dispatcher, has been serving on the Purdy City Council on and off since 2005, after he spent one term as mayor, resigning after being elected to a second term.

Haven of the Ozarks Pet of the Week
Starsky and his buddy, Hutch, were found tied to the Haven sign at the end of the road with an electrical cord. These two sweet and friendly dogs deserve much better! Starsky is a brown colored Dachshund mix and is a small dog weighing 17 pounds. Date of birth is Feb. 24, 2020.
Exeter welcomes 3 to staff
The Exeter school district welcomed three new staff members this fall. They include: Lindsay Reed, K-12 librarian; Jennifer Brown, elementary secretary; and Andrea Howard, paraprofessional.

Man injured in big rig wreck
An Arkansas man was injured on Friday in a wreck at 12:01 a.m. on Highway W, two miles east of Wheaton.
Dry-cured bacon workshop coming in September
The Barry County University of Missouri Extension is holding a dry cured bacon (pork belly) workshop for youth and adults. Before refrigeration, many Missourians cured hams and pork bellies as a method of preserving food.
