Exeter youth places in 4-H competition

Raeleigh Brown, 9, of Exeter competed on Sept. 23 at the Missouri State 4-H public speaking competition in Columbia, where she placed second in the junior division (ages 8-10). Junior 4-H members write, prepare and present a 3-5 minute speech to a panel of judges. During the competition, Brown spoke about “No Horsin’ Around,” which explained her journey of learning about horses through her 4-H project. She is a member of the Exeter Trailblazers 4-H. Sales taxes rebound in October
After a sluggish September quarterly report, sales tax revenues to local municipal and county governments shot up in October, improving prospects for an end-of-the-end upswing. The seven Barry County cities collecting sales tax received $849,778.81, up 18 percent from a year ago.
