As we are in the midst of the Christmas season, many thoughts and memories of prior holidays come rushing to mind this time of year. I’ve always loved this time of year.

50 YEARS AGO: A BLIZZARD VIEW — The photo was taken Wednesday afternoon during blizzard conditions in Cassville. A one-block view is nearly obscured by the hard blowing snow that followed heavy sleet. Christmas shared!

7th grade girls win Big 8 West

The seventh and eighth grade middle school girls basketball teams have completed their season, with both teams finishing strong in the Big 8 West Division Tournaments. Cassville Middle School was host to the seventh grade conference tournament. After a very close game against Seneca, the Lady Wildcats finished with a win, 21-18, making the Wildcats the Big 8 West Division Champions. November sales taxes show variation
Sales tax revenues to Barry County cities and the county government dipped slightly in November, ending Cassville’s 16-month streak of gains. Overall, however, income rose because of higher collections from the county’s newer law enforcement sales tax.
Chiefs superfan Goggle Girl has Cassville connection

When 13-year-old Madison (Maddie) Fuller, daughter of retired Command Sgt. Maj. Mike and Katrin Fuller, asked for ski goggles after the bitterly cold 2022 Christmastime Kansas City Chiefs game, she didn’t realize she’d be an internationally recognized superfan known as KC Chiefs Goggle Girl a year later.
Land-applications may continue
A Nov. 29 order from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) requiring Denali Water Solutions to immediately stop all land applications and empty its two storage basins in southwest Missouri may be followed, but it may not stop land applications entirely.
