Bingo Night to fund trade scholarship

Third-year Missouri Southern State University student and math major Zane Smith, of Wheaton, has plans to establish a scholarship for Barry County high school students entering a trade program. Initial fundraising will begin with a “Bingo Night,” scheduled for 6 p.m.

Troy Youngjin Park, 30, of Cassville, Mo., passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024, at his home. He was born November 10, 1993, in Fairfax, Va., the son of Jerry and Hye Kyung (Cho) Park.

Lady Eagles hoops is back!

The Purdy girls basketball program is back in business. Unable to field a team in the 2023-2024 season, a dozen years after back-to-back state championships, Coach Stephanie Heman said eight girls are reviving the storied squad.

Tiger Band takes 3rd in small schools

On Oct. 19, the Exeter High School band participated in the Missouri Southern Homecoming Parade in downtown Joplin. The Tiger Band finished in third place in the small school division. The Tiger band will also perform in the Exeter Christmas Parade on Dec. 7, and the band will perform as part of the Exeter School Christmas concert on Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
