40 YEARS AGO: PLAYFUL SUBJECT LION — Object of a 24 hour lion hunt’ in the Eagle Rock area over the weekend, and now an obvious target of county regulations, this was the playful lion at a Hilltop area tavern last week. With the owner, Larry Rainey, the 11-month-old cub, although hot because of the weather, was enjoying the romp. Since, the lion which ended a walk through the countryside of Table Rock Lake on Sunday, faces possible county regulations and the owner possible charges for animal abuse due to inadequate facilities. Previously kept on a chain, after being raised indoors at another Cassville business, the lion was joined by a second of the species early this week, according to information available from the Barry County sheriff’s office, mainly through complaints from neighbors in the Hilltop area.
