The season of Lent began two weeks ago. Some reading this may wonder why that makes any difference.

Sales tax income to Barry County cities and county government held fairly even in February compared to a year ago, despite the shift resulting from Monett's use tax pulling down the overall county total.

CMS 8th-graders are the next Sharks!
Cassville middle schoolers had the opportunity to give their Shark Tank ideas a shot when they attended the FBLA 8th Grade Entrepreneurship Day. Cassville high school FBLA members organized a full day of entrepreneurial ideas and activities for the eighth-graders, then held a competition among eighth-grade tables for a chance at prizes. Students had a lot of fun, and some amazing ideas were invented. Winners received prizes in both content and commercial categories.

Through the Years, Feb. 28
40 YEARS AGO: MORE LIKE A WINTER WONDERLAND — Roaring River State Park’s opening last week presented this sight... more like a winter wonderland...than a trout opening. Outside of overcoming my sleepiness, as I was not much of a morning person in those days, I was excited to cover an event I was told was a local tradition, something you can’t miss if you want to know anything about Barry County.
