Final June jail escapee captured
The last of seven Barry County jail inmates that escaped the jail on June 1 was apprehended in Avondale, Penn.
Residents’ concerns aired to county commission
Eleven days after about 100 residents came together for a community meeting, four community representatives met with the Barry County Commission to seek solutions. Donnie Stumpff, Brian Stehlik, Donald Craig and Phil Hutchens, representing the Citizens for Justice in Barry County, met with County Commissioners Steve.

One thing is clear following the community meeting on Thursday — a significant portion of the community is tired of being burglarized. About 100 people attended the spur-of-themoment meeting, organized by Cassville resident Donnie Stumpff via one Facebook post and on 24 hours notice.

Cassville youth battle for 3rd win of season
Cassville picked up a 22-6 win over East Newton on Friday, extending a two-decade win streak kept by institutional memory. Lance Parnell, Cassville athletic director, said he believes the last loss to the Patriots came in 2002, and Missouri State High School Sports Association records show 16 wins in a row, back to 2010.

100 locals forming plans to stem burglaries
Approximately 100 Barry County residents held a meeting on 24 hours notice on Thursday at the American Legion Pavilion, calling for action by local elected officials to address the growing problem of theft, burglary and drug use locally.

Max David Craft, 66, of Verona, passed away at 7:56 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 at home with his wife by his side. He was born Dec. 1, 1956 at the Harris-Howell Clinic in Purdy, the son of Johnnie and Virginia (Sperandio) Craft, who both preceded him in death.
