Cassville grad awarded Russ Melton scholarship
Peter Littlefield, a 2023 graduate of Cassville High School, has received the Russ Melton Scholarship, administered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. The son of John and Sheila Littlefield, Peter Littlefield is attending Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College this fall, where he plans to study animal science.

Exeter grad awarded Ozark Teacher Corps scholarship
Micha “Mindi” Peckham, a 2005 graduate of Exeter High School, has received the Ozark Teacher Corps scholarship, administered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. Peckham, the daughter of Mike Stewart, will attend Missouri Southern State University this fall, where she plans to complete a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

The Cassville softball team will play its first regular-season home tilt on Thursday, taking on Marshfield at 4:30 p.m. The Lady Wildcats have struggled against stiff competition in the season’s early goings. In the 29th Annual Morrisville Tournament, Cassville topped West Plains, 10-3. Since that Aug. 25 matchup, the Lady Wildcats have eluded victory, falling to Sherwood, 4-0; Carthage, 4-1; Carl Junction, 8-4; and Nevada, 14-0. Cassville played Logan-Rogersville on the road Tuesday after presstime and faces Marshfield Thursday.
