FOOTBALL LIVE UPDATES: Cassville vs. Seneca, Week 3

Bredeson sweeps left untouched fur a 22-yard TD. Wildcats lead 7-0 with 8:33 left in 1Q.

Spencer Drollinger makes a great tackle pinning the returner at the 15. Toss right gains 6, handoff adds 1 to bring third and 3, run gets a first at the 28. Swing pass gets 6, QB keeps for a first at the Cassville 44. Run gains 5, next keeper loses 3 to bring third and 8, QB goes to throw then keeps up middle for 4, sweep right is held shy and Wildcats take over on downs at own 40.

Bredeson catches a long pass for a first at the Seneca 17. Hughes gains a yard, then 4, Kamden Beebe sweeps right for 3 to bring fourth and 2, pitch to Weldy gains a first but he stays on his feet and is pushed by a mob of Wildcats into paydirt for a 9-yard TD. Cassville now leads 14-0 with 2:26 left in 1Q.

Seneca returns kick to own 43. Option pitch loses 4, swing pass gains it back to bring third and 10, next play gains 3, running back pass picked off by Weldy at own 25.

END 1Q: Cassville 14, Seneca 0

Stearns pass complete up the middle to Bryan for a first at Seneca 38. Handoff loses 1, snap bobbled but Stearns covers to bring third and 13, completion to Chase Ruark called back for penalty to make it third and 23, Stearns keeps and weaves his way 21 yards, Beebe takes handoff a couple and measurement is a few inches short. Indians take over at own 31.

Option pitch loses 1, next run gets 8, QB keeps for first at the 45. Pass complete for first at Cassville 14. Handoff gets 1, next one loses 2, then gains a first at the 3. Run gets nothing, next one gets 1 to bring third and goal from the 2, handoff is punched in from there. Cassville still ahead 14-7 with 4:41 left in 2Q.

M’Quade Farris fields a pooch and returns to the Cassville 46. Stearns gets free left for a first at the Seneca 32. Hughes bumbles forward for 5, Weldy stopped at the line, Beebe gets a first at the 18. Bredeson sweeps left but loses 1, Hughes makes a catch at the line to bring third and 11, Stearns scrambles and goes down for 4-yard loss, Coach Weldy runs the clock down to 1:38 and calls a timeout. 39-yard field goal attempt no good. Seneca takes over at own 21.

Pass complete and receiver sheds two tackles to get to Cassville’s 12. Run gains 1 as clock winds under a minute, QB keeps for 4 to bring third and 5, next play gets in from 7. PAT misses and Wildcats retain lead, 14-13 with 28 seconds left in 2Q.

Great Drollinger return called back for block in the back. Wildcats at own 22. Stearns scrambles and goes down at the line.

END 2Q: Cassville 14, Seneca 13

Zajac kicks a touchback to start the second half and Indians start at own 20. QB keeps for 7, then keeps for first at the 33. Handoff gains 7, QB keeps for first at the 45. QB keeps again to gain 3, sweep left gets first at Cassville’s 44. Run stopped at line but personal foul gives a first at the 27. Sweep left gains a chunk but holding makes it first and 15, dump pass gains 7, QB gets 7 more to bring third and 1, handoff gets first at the 11. Run gains 5, keeper loses 1 to bring third and 6, QB keeps for 4 to make it fourth and 2, handoff gets in from 3. 2-point conversion stopped but Seneca takes first lead of the game, 19-14, with 6:53 left in 3Q.

Farris takes a bouncing kick the other way to Seneca’s 42. Beebe carries for 1, Stearns weaves to the 23 and facemask gives a first at the 18. Bryan gains 3, then goes left to the 2 but holding makes it second and 10, Stearns keeps for 4 to bring third and 6, pitch to Weldy gets 1, pass bounces off the receiver straight up in the air and is picked. Seneca takes over at own 14.

Run gains 3, swing pass gets 4, QB keeps for first at the 21. Handoff gains 6, keeper gets 3 more to bring third and 1, next keeper gets first at the 40. QB again for 6.

END 3Q: Seneca 19, Cassville 14

QB gets 3 to bring third and 1, run gets first at the Cassville 46. Sweep gets 1, QB keeps for 4 to bring third and 5, option pitch gets 1, swing pass is tipped but caught and Wildcats shut it down for turnover on downs, take over at own 37.

Bryan gets 1, pitch to Bredeson gets close to the stick, measurement is a nose short to bring third and inches, Stearns pushes for first at the 50. Beebe gets 8, then a first at the 34. Weldy goes left and is horse collared to make it a first down at the 19. Beebe goes middle then turns on the jets right and gets in at the pylon for a 19-yard score. Wildcats score for the first time since the first quarter and retake the lead, 21-19, with 6:28 to play.

Kickoff returner slides to make the catch at the sideline and Indians start at own 11. Refs then call kick out of bounds and moved to the 45. Run gains 2, then 3 to bring third and 5, pass to wide open receiver gets a first at the Cassville 16. Run gains 3, QB keeps for 13-yard score. Indians retake 25-21 lead after Wildcats stop another conversion attempt with 3:52 to go.

Sizemore recovers onside attempt at own 47. Stars keeps for 9, Beebe gets first at Seneca 38. Weldy gets 4, Beebe adds 2 to bring third and 4, Stearns fakes and keeps the option right did a first at the 25. Stearns keeps again left and beats his man to paydirt. Cassville now leads 28-25 with 1:10 left in the game.

Seneca returns to own 20 and have one timeout remaining. Long pass right broken up, pass caught for first at the 33. QB scrambles for first at the 44. Pass incomplete, next pass incomplete but Cassville has 12 on the field to make it first down at the Wildcats’ 44 with 26 seconds left. Pass complete for first at the 26 and Seneca spikes it. Pass incomplete to bring third and 10 with 13.1 on the clock, pass incomplete and holding makes it third and long at the 36 with 5.1 seconds to play. Bomb to end zone is broken up and student section storms the field! Wildcats win!
