The Cassville boys track and field team took third place as a team at the Ice Box Relays in Aurora on April 6, and a Wildcat senior set a new record in the 3200-meter run. Caleb Leach too first place in the event with a time of 10:04.69, a new school record.
Bulldogs boast consistent rotation
With four returning starters and seven lettermen, plus a consistent pitching rotation for the first time in a few years, the Wheaton baseball team is focused on continued improvement and a record that shows it. At 2-16 last season, the Bulldogs have trudged through the first part of this year at 0-6, but Coach Tucker Dermott has faith Wheaton will add more to the win column this season.
Incumbents hold in Southwest
Henry, Henderson, Meek re-elected The Southwest school board will see no changes as a result of the April 4 election, with incumbents Doug Henry, Ruth (Doke) Henderson and Terry Meek defeating two challengers to retain their posts. Of the 854 votes cast in five Barry County precincts and one McDonald County precinct, Henry received 224 votes, Henderson received 205 and Meek received 197.
Patriotic “Pops in the Park’ concert coming
The Ozark Festival Orchestra, based in Monett, will conclude its 2022-23 season with its annual Marty Beckwith Memorial Pops in the Park concert, slated for April 16 at the Monett City Park Casino, located east of the park entrance at Highways 37 and 60. The concert is a benefit for the orchestra to help raise funds to cover annual expenses.
‘Mission Possible’ takes the stage
The Shell Knob in The Spotlight (SKITS) community theater group is working diligently crafting their respective roles for yet another comedy classic, “Mission Possible,” to be presented April 28-30 at the Central Community United Methodist Church in Shell Knob. This play, superbly penned by playwright Craig Sadario, and admirably directed by Cade Keeton, of Cassville, brings together a cast of 21 colorful characters in a hilarious comedy spoof of all the favorite television and film spies.

Sponsored by middle school Future Homemakers, Cassville’s egg hunt Saturday was one of those that came between showers and before the Sunday snow. At the start of games at Rocky Edmondson Memorial Park this was the crowd. A larger group was on hand for the Easter egg hunt.
SeniorAge offers Medicare assistance
SeniorAge Area Agency on Aging strives to connect seniors with not only local resources, but state assistance programs as well. There are programs available to help with Medicare costs, drug coverage and even food assistance.
News briefs, April 12
The Arnhart Cemetery Association will hold annual meeting on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Arnhart Pavillon.
