Meet Sparky, the Haven of the Ozarks Pet of the Week. Sparky is a very loving and loyal boy. He does great with kids, other dogs and cats. He is housebroken, crate trained, up to date on his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. He’s a gentle giant at 97 pounds and is estimated to be about 8 years old. Education Fund donates $3K
Surprise presentations of three Cassville Education Fund grants totaling $3,000 were awarded to Cassville teachers on May 17. A grant of $1,500 was presented to seventh- and eighth-grade math teacher, Tara Hutchens, for 150 digital drawing tablets.

Shadow Bluffs Retreat cuts ribbon
Dan Hamm and Tammy Hamm, owners of Shadow Bluffs Retreat, cut the ribbon during the grand opening ceremony hosted by the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce. Larry Paul Varner, age 78, of Washburn, Missouri passed away Friday, July 8, 2022 at his home. He was born May 16, 1944 in Cassville, Missouri, he was the son of Paul Brooks Varner and Lois (Weston) Varner.

Dr. J. Chris Perryman
Dr. J. Chris Perryman, MD, passed away on July 7th, 2022, at his home in Overland Park, KS. Chris was born in Wichita, KS on April 10th, 1950, to Roy and Arvilla (Stever) Perryman. Chris knew as early as eight-years-old that he wanted to be a doctor. He received a fullride scholarship to Yale University, earning an undergraduate degree in Biology, then returned to his midwestern roots to attend the University of Kansas Medical School, graduating in 1976. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Luke’s Hospital. Early in his residency he met Kathy, who became his best friend and beloved wife of 45 years.

Charles Newton Knatcal, Sr., 83, of Purdy, passed away Wednesday, July 6, at CoxHealth Medical Center South in Springfield. He was born June 14, 1939, in Cooperstown, Ill., the son of Charles E.

Pearl Elaine Henry, 90, of Washburn, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Springfield in Springfield. She was born May 7, 1932, in Washburn, the daughter of John and Rowena (Stephens) Henry, who preceded her in death.

Allen John Durie, age 74, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family. Son of John and Marion (Heathman) Durie, Allen was born March 11, 1948, in The Bronx, New York.
Bagby made Lady Wildcats head coach
For the second time in as many seasons, the Cassville girls basketball team has a new head coach. After a late resignation of former coach Reed Smith, Cassville hired from within, tapping boys assistant Clayton Bagby to lead the program.
