Barry County Bows double up at state
The Barry County Bows, a 4-H bow-shooting club, had seven youths compete at state on Sept. 22 at Prairie Grove Shotgun Sports in Columbia. Participants included: Savannah Doucet, Eli Madsen, Connor Madsen, Alec Smith, Zoei Stockton, Lydia Stockton and Garrett England.

Cassville beats Class 2 No. 1 by 1
The Cassville football roller coaster kept on rolling Friday, with the Wildcats rising from the depths of Week 3’s East Newton loss to surprise Lamar at home, 35-34. After suffering its first loss to the patriots in nearly 20 years in Week 3, the Wildcats returned home in Week 4 with resolve.

Lady Wildcats softball ready for conference clashes
With a district trophy in tow, the Cassville softball team is working its way through this season with solid pitching, and the Lady Wildcats have five Big 8 bouts left before the postseason comes calling. Jordan Savage, Cassville softball coach, said the Lady Wildcats (10-8) have had a good season, despite letting a few games go to their opponents.

Scoreboard, Sept. 25
The Cassville cross country teams competed in Monett and in Willard last week, with the Lady Wildcats producing third-place and runner-up finishes. In Monett, the girls were third, boys fifth, middle school girls second and middle school boys third.

Wildcats want more Jekyll, less Hyde
The Cassville football team is aiming this week to shed its Jekyll and Hyde routine this season, welcoming perennial power Lamar to Wildcats Stadium after suffering the first loss to East Newton in two decades, 42-21.
Scoreboard, Sept. 18
The Cassville cross country teams went to Seneca on Thursday to compete in a large field of runners. The middle school boys, led by race winner Dade Zajac, were the champions of their division, and the middle school girls were runners- up.
Lady Wildcats tee off
The Cassville girls golf season is underway, with retired Coach Jay Rogers returning to the links to help the program continue to grow. Rogers retired from education at the end of the 20232024 school year, but when the opportunity arose to continue as girls golf coach, there was only one answer.
