Mitchell retires from Mercy after 30 years
Mercy Hospital employee Lisa Mitchell retired last week after 30 years of service to the facility. Mitchell started at Mercy in 1995 after being contracted since 1988 as a physical therapist. She has four children, Jessica, Caleb, Michaela and Shannon, and she has been married to Charlie Mitchell for 44 years, and the couple reside in Seligman. Mercy to end Anthem contracts
After months of negotiation with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Mercy has provided written notice to end its contracts with Anthem in the state of Missouri. These contracts include all commercial, Medicare Advantage, Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace, managed Medicaid plans (Healthy Blue) and HealthLink (which falls under the Anthem BCBS umbrella).

Forsyth death ruled a suicide
Eleven months after his body was found in Beaver Lake in Arkansas, a ruling has been made in the death of Dr. John Forsyth, former Mercy Cassville emergency room physician.

Crowder nursing receives $60K grant for simulation lab
The nursing program at Crowder College Cassville Campus received a $60,000 boost in funding in January, given by the South Barry County Hospital District Board. Sandra Wilson, Crowder's director of nursing, said the college is happy to have such a strong partnership with the local board “Partnerships with clinical sites are significant to our nursing programs,” Wilson said.
