Revitalizing history
Down winding dirt roads between Jenkins and Cato, near the 150-year-old McKinney Cemetery and a stone’s toss from Rockhouse Creek, a piece of Barry County history is getting new life. At one point, Barry County had at least 115 rural one- or two-room school houses, one of which was the Hailey School House in Mineral Spring.

The Cassville area received its first true taste of tornado season in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Just after midnight, storms that had been spinning off tornadoes in Oklahoma approached Missouri, leading to a tornado warning in McDonald County, and ultimately, the same for Barry.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will host an in-person, public hearing in Barry County regarding proposed permits by the department for the land-application of industrial meat, poultry and other food-processing waste and human biosolids in Barry and McDonald Counties.

A Cassville man was seriously injured following a single-vehicle wreck on Friday at 8 p.m. on Highway 112, six miles south of Cassville.

A Stella man was injured on Friday in a wreck at 9:15 p.m. on Highway 76, half a mile east of Exeter.

Barry County Sheriff’s Office calls for service and reports taken
The Barry County Sheriff's Office responded to 220 calls for service for the week of April 29-May 5. The CAD events created by central dispatch are the Calls for Service Barry County Officers respond to every day, included in those calls are alarms, assaults, burglaries, domestic disturbances, DWI's, stealing, harassment, medical issues, paper service, prisoner transports, suspicious persons, traffic stops and warrant service.
Sheriff candidates file finance reports
The first quarterly campaign finance reports were due for county candidates by April 15, detailing each candidate's spending and revenue.
