WOW School scheduled at Roaring River State Park

People can now plan to attend the 25th annual WOW National Outdoor Recreation and Conservation School at Roaring River State Park. WOW Schools are weekend programs designed to teach families how to enjoy a wide range of outdoor recreation activities while practicing personal safety and outdoor responsibility.

Initiative tests sitting sexual assault kits

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt recently awarded all Barry County law enforcement agencies and hospitals with the Community Partnership Award. According to a press release from the Schmitt’s office, more than 650 entities have been awarded the recognition for completing phase II of the SAFE Kit Initiative.

The Cassville girls golf team hosted a 9-school tournament on Thursday, with Joplin taking first place in the team scores with a 402, and Cassville second with a 409. Individually, Avery Chappell took first place, and Gracie Harmon medaled by taking eighth. On Aug. 30, Chappell and the Lady Wildcats competed in the Reed Spring tournament, with the junior state placer last year shooting a 77 to take 3rd out of about 80 golfers. The tournament was held at theThousand Hills Golf club in Branson.

Kyle Troutman: Hearty foods for fall

Fall is on its way, and I don’t know about you all, but there’s one thing I enjoy a bit about Autumn more than anything else — the food. My wife and I kicked off the season Wednesday by pressure cooking the most marbled chuck eye roast you’d ever laid eyes on. OK, maybe it wasn’t that marbled, but after years and years of overcooking roasts in a crockpot, I give our pressure cooker every bit of kudos.
