The Cassville boys soccer team (7-5-1) split games in the Greenwood Classic on Saturday, falling to College Heights 1-0, but defeating Aurora 6-2, snapping a fourgame skid. Freshman Cayden Rohde scored his first ever hat trick (three goals) in the win over the Houn’ Dawgs.

Kyle Troutman: In no way emptyhanded
Last weekend, I made the trek to Osage Beach for the annual Missouri Press Association Convention, stomach in knots with every turn that I would leave empty-handed. In a sense, I did, as this was the first year in the last eight — my entire eligible career in Missouri — that neither the Monett Times nor Cassville Democrat won a Gold Cup.
Bob Mitchell: We’re 5 days into fall season
Just as quickly as this year has gone by, the fall season is upon us, and all around there are sure signs of one of the best seasons going for this part of the woods. If you don’t think the color change in the forests that surround us isn’t just around the corner, drive down to the Roller Nursery growing grounds south of Washburn and see some of the young trees getting ahead of their elders out in the woods in converting to the Flaming Fall Review.
CSIP meetings held at Cassville
Merlyn Johnson, Cassville superintendent, motions toward Board Member Jeremy Marple while discussing his practice for an upcoming punt, pass, kick competition during a rivalry football game. Both were attending the CSIP meetings, where certain individuals are invited to workshop- like sessions about improving the district.
Divers honored at event
A “Meet The Divers” event was held on Saturday at Roaring River State Park’s Emory Melton Inn, recognizing the KISS Rebreathers dive team for setting a national record depth of 472 feet into Roaring River’s spring in November 2021.

Cassville readies for Mustangs after Patriots win
Coming off a smooth 35-0 win over Class 2 East Newton on Friday, the Cassville football team (3-1) will jump classes and face a test on homecoming this week against Class 4 McDonald County. The Wildcats used big plays and stifling defense to produce a 35-0 victory over the Patriots.

Cassville softball christens new facility The Cassville softball program christened its completed turf field on Sept. 13, with former coach Bonnie Cox ceremonially throwing the first pitch at the new facility prior to a contest with Monett.
