On the south end of Cassville High School, the Performing Arts Center has taken its shape. The building, an impressive 36,025 square feet, is completely dried-in, meaning all exterior construction is complete and no precipitation will enter the building.
Lady ‘Cats set wins record
A new era of Cassville girls soccer is dawning following a record-setting season that ended in one of the most painful ways in the sport — a penalty shootout. This year’s Lady Wildcats set the record for wins with a 13-6-2 mark, besting the 11-10 record of the first varsity season in 2019, and it tied its season record for shutouts with 8.

Haven of the Ozarks: Pet of the Week, June 5
Mayo is just the sweetest girl. She came in covered with ticks and was starving. She is now thriving and learning that people aren’t as scary as she first thought. In fact, hugs and cuddles are her favorite. Her breed is unknown, and her estimated DOB is Jan. 18, 2024. All dog adoptions at the Haven are half-price in June.Adopters can complete the adoption application at www.havenoftheozarks. org/adopt. No appointment needed for adopters. The Haven is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week. All Haven of the Ozarks pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. Trout Fest crowd shows spirit at Sunday South Park concert
Area residents joined in praise through music at Cassville’s South Park on Sunday. Caleb and Kelsey, pictured were the first of three acts to perform, followed by Riley Clemmons, and with Anthem Lights playing as the headliner.

June 2, 2024 Roaring River is running 105 CFS as of Sunday morning. It has been falling every day, and clearing happens a lot quicker when the river gets below 100 CFS.

llen Anna Mae Allen, 81, passed away on June 1, 2024. Born on July 31, 1942, in Stone County, Mo., the daughter of Rosco Sherman and Inez Leora (Jenkins) Hicks, who preceded her in death.

William Robert Wehmiller, Jr., 75, of Shell Knob, Mo. passed away Monday, May 28, 2024.
Trees planted at county courthouse
The Barry County Extension Board and the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce purchased dogwood and redbud trees for the Barry County Courthouse yard. The trees were planted by the Cassville FFA (advisor Jordan Ellis), and Extension Board Member David Samuel coordinated the tree purchase and planting, trees and mulch from Harvick Farms. FFA students who participated in planting and mulching included: Rebekah Fry, Hanna Blankenship, Joei Blankenship, Taylor Yarnall, Graci Maher, Will Brooks, Jaret Hinson, Brandon Alley, Tierany Sloan and Carlee Mitchell.
MU Extension to showcase warm season grasses
University of Missouri Extension will hold a farm tour to highlight three successful farm operations that use warm season grasses in their forage program. The tours will occur in Barry County starting at 4 p.m.
