Cecil Ellis Wormington, 84, of Purdy, Missouri was called to his Heavenly home on Saturday July 26, 2025 while at Lacoba Homes in Monett, Missouri. He was born in Star City, Missouri on March 13, 1941; the son of the late Damon and Ollie Wormington. He was united in marriage on May 29, 1959 in Purdy, Missouri to Katherine Henderson; she survives.

40 YEARS AGO: AUGUST COOLER IN FLAT CREEK — It may come as a surprise to many, but there are still swimming holes in Flat Creek, and this foursome is evidence of the enjoyment and cooling effect some can have in August. Shannon Stewart, Travis Hilburn, Kile and Brant Munday were swimming off rocks in an area just below the 13th Street bridge. This particular bend in the creek is just about where a bridge was usually constructed for the Old Soldiers’ and Settlers’ Reunion when the event was held in what is now known as Rocky Edmond-son Memorial Park, as part of the R-4 schools campus.
