Kyle Troutman: Giving ‘Back 2 You’

Christmas and the New Year have come and gone, and in between those days, we at the Cassville Democrat were in the giving spirit. In April 2023, we announced a new campaign for the Democrat called “Back 2 You,” wherein we planned to portion off 2 percent of all special project sales throughout the year and donate that amount to correlating organizations in our community.

I made my annual jaunt down to Southwest High School a couple times last week for the Annual Holiday Tournament, where I ran into none other than Announcr-DJ-Showman Jared Lankford. Southwest has enjoyed his services for the last many years, playing music, crowd games and announcing all three days of the annual event.

Denali denied injunction

Judge: ‘No express statutory requirement that a fertilizer license exempt Denali’ Denali Water Solutions’ request for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against the Missouri Fertilizer Control Board (MoFCB) was denied by Cole County 19th Circuit Court Judge Cotton Walker on Dec. 18, 2023.

High-speed chase ends in Purdy

A high-speed chase on Thursday on Highway 37, which began south of Monett ended southwest of Purdy, has resulted in the alleged driver facing four felonies and two misdemeanors. Ernest Naler, 34, of Monett, is charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, resisting arrest for a felony, driving while intoxicated - persistent, all felonies; as well as speeding and driving while suspended, both misdemeanors.
