6 seniors lead deep Wildcats squad
Following its first winning season and first playoff win in a decade, the Cassville boys soccer team is entering a new era. Led this season by six seniors and eight returning starters, the Wildcats have set their goals higher than ever.

Wheaton schools receive $46K grant
The Wheaton school district has been awarded a portion of grant money offered through the USDA Healthy Meal Incentives for Schools program. According to the USDA, the district received $46,509, which it intends to use primarily for a new walk-in freezer, plus other items to be determined.
August sales tax results mixed
Sales tax revenues to Barry County’s cities and county government dropped moderately in August, compared to a year ago. While receipts generally held steady, the biggest city, Monett, recorded big enough dips to pull down the overall county totals.

Horsin’ around town
An uncommon call came into the Cassville Police Department on Monday morning — horse on the loose. The mild-mannered mare was spotted in the Cassville City Park just after 7 a.m., making her way south on the Greenway Trail to the Aquatic Center, where a bystander called the situation in. Cassville Police Officer Zack Thompson, pictured, led the horse into a baseball field using a dog leash, then blocked off exits with vehicles and nearby garbage bins to keep her contained.
