Nathan Toon: To the glory of God
All things happen according to the glory of God. At least, that is what we as Christians should believe. So much heartbreak has rocked our small town as of late and I would like to encourage those who have been affected as well as shed light to these dark situations.

It happens so easily. We oversleep, shut off the alarm and roll over, or just invest a bit too much extra time tackling a bad hair day.

2 local grads receive Shelter scholarships
The Shelter Insurance Foundation awarded $1,500 scholarships to Isaac Hadlow and Elijah Holenda, graduates of Cassville and Wheaton high schools, respectively. Shelter Agent Terri Lynn DeGraffenreid-Brattin sponsors and partially funds this scholarship.


Cassville anglers 4th in fishing tourney
The Cassville High School fishing team hit Stockton Lake for a championship tournament recently, bringing back multiple awards, including Big Bass. The Pro-Team Association Tournament(PTA)andNational Youth Fishing Association (NYFA) Championships were held June 10-11.

June sales tax revenues drop
The magic of the pandemic surge in sales tax seems to be wearing off, according to indicators in June receipts to bi-county towns and government bodies. While receipts for the second quarter of 2023 show revenues kept growing over last year, every Barry County city except for Cassville took in less for the month than they did a year ago.
Purdy Festival to offer 12th year of fun
The town of Purdy is gearing up for its 12th annual Purdy Festival, scheduled for July 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

July 5, 2023 The river is low and clear as of Sunday, and with the water running at 28 CFS, dry fly fishing is fantastic right now. Tricos in the morning; caddis most of the day; blue wing olives in the afternoons; a few sulphurs in the evening; and beetles, ants and hoppers work all afternoon.
