6 returners battle for boys golf varsity spots
The Cassville boys golf team has yet to qualify a member to state since Isaac Dodson in 2018, a year after Wildcat Dylan Garner won the individual Class 3 title. This year’s club at Cassville hopes to bring the Wildcats back to state-level competition.
Historical education meeting set for Friday
A presentation about “Keetsville to Washburn and Roller Ridge to Seligman” and the “Heart of the Burn Zone” will be given on Friday at the Southwest High School cafeteria. Glenn Erwin, of the Washburn area, is organizing the meeting, which he hopes will become a historical society of sorts.
Purdy amending 3 ordinances
Purdy city officials are rethinking a number of ordinances that will suit the community better. First, local leaders are taking a close look at its livestock ordinance, which currently allows cattle operations only on property that was used for livestock before the city passed its current ordinance.
Eagles to echo at Carnegie Hall
Yard sales, can collecting, photos with Santa, Super Bowl Squares, hat days, jean days, walnut picking, sock selling, soup dinners, bake sales and raffles. These are some fundraising opportunities the Purdy Eagle Echoes have completed, and more are on the way.

Through the Years, April 5
The initial step toward Cassville’s possible acquiring of new Christmas decorations was in process when this photo was made. A C of C committee was making selections for recommendations to the Chamber the first of next month. Around the table from the left are: Mrs. Donna Long, Mrs. Sue Mitchell, Bob Oliver, Nolan McNeill, Joe Preddy, J. A. Hull and Kenneth Johnston. McNeill, C of C president, appointed the committee to go over the wares of Oliver, a decoration company representative. Requiring approximately $9,000 in funds, the program will be presented to the Chamber board for future action during the May meeting. Two large assembly scenes and approximately 60 pole decorations were chosen by the committee possibly to replace 10-year-old fixtures presently in use.

Champions crowned at Trivia Night
The Wesley Wizards, a team representing the Cassville United Methodist Church, dominated Trivia Night on March 17 by winning the overall competition, as well as the “Smarty Pants” award for most trivia questions answered correctly.

News briefs, April 5
The Cassville Jazz Program will host a “Blues & BBQ” fundraiser on April 14 at 6:30 p.m. the outdoor concert will feature “The Jazz Cats” middle school jazz band, and the “Wildcat Jazz” high school jazz band.
