NEVADA — The first half was all it took for Nevada to exert its will on Cassville Friday, delivering a stinging 62-7 defeat after scoring 43 unanswered in the opening quarters.

Overflow audience greets KISS Rebreathers at event

McDonald County bests Cassville, 21-14
The final seconds of the Cassville football game Friday were marked by a standing ovation from fans, admiration at the effort given in the second half of a 21-14 loss to McDonald County. It’s an effort Cassville football coach Clay Weldy hopes can carry over against a second state-ranked Class 4 Big 8 opponent on Friday in Nevada.
Bob Mitchell: We’re 5 days into fall season
Just as quickly as this year has gone by, the fall season is upon us, and all around there are sure signs of one of the best seasons going for this part of the woods. If you don’t think the color change in the forests that surround us isn’t just around the corner, drive down to the Roller Nursery growing grounds south of Washburn and see some of the young trees getting ahead of their elders out in the woods in converting to the Flaming Fall Review.
Kyle Troutman: In no way emptyhanded
Last weekend, I made the trek to Osage Beach for the annual Missouri Press Association Convention, stomach in knots with every turn that I would leave empty-handed. In a sense, I did, as this was the first year in the last eight — my entire eligible career in Missouri — that neither the Monett Times nor Cassville Democrat won a Gold Cup.

The Cassville boys soccer team (7-5-1) split games in the Greenwood Classic on Saturday, falling to College Heights 1-0, but defeating Aurora 6-2, snapping a fourgame skid. Freshman Cayden Rohde scored his first ever hat trick (three goals) in the win over the Houn’ Dawgs.
